Automobile Barcelona closes with great success in terms of public and sales

Automobile Barcelona closes the 2025 edition this afternoon as the great European event of the year for brands and fans. With 30 brands and 12 premieres presented – including a World premiere and a European one- the International Motor Show organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac), filled the Montjuïc venue with public and buyers to boost sales of electrified vehicles and contributing to the recovery of the automotive sector.

The president of the show, Enrique Lacalle, highlighted that: “Once again, Automobile Barcelona has given a boost to the industry by connecting the latest models from traditional and emerging brands with a more determined audience. At a key moment in the transformation towards electrified vehicles and the renewal of Spain’s car fleet, our show bolsters its position as a European leader and projects Barcelona as the capital of new mobility. The success of this edition and the passion that the city feels for cars reaffirms our mission to be more than ever a driver of progress for the entire industry and society.”

According to a survey carried out during the show, 62% of visitors who attended Automobile Barcelona did so with the intention of purchasing a vehicle, and of these, 49% intended to do so before the end of the year. Two out of three buyers (65.3%) were looking for an electrified car, and only 18.5% were interested in combustion engines. Of those who opted for electrified vehicles, 21.5% sought fully electric cars, while 26.9% were inclined towards a hybrid and 16.9% towards a plug-in hybrid.

Throughout the 9 days that the show was open to the public, Automobile Barcelona brought together a large number of visitors who enjoyed the ranges of the 30 car brands present – Alpine, Baltasar, BYD, Cupra, Denza, DR, Ebro, E-Miles, EVO, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, ICHX, Jaecoo, Kate, KGM, Leapmotor, Lynk&Co, MG, Mobilize, Nissan, Omoda, Renault, Seat, Sportequipe, Suzuki, Tesla, Tiger, Volvo and Xpeng – and the 12 premieres unveiled, including a world premiere, the Ebro S400 and a European one, the MG S5.

Pending on final figures after closing this afternoon, the event registered an increase in visitors of 10% and will therefore exceed 350,000 attendees, consolidating itself as one of the leading European events in the industry.

    A cinematic experience

Automobile Barcelona organised different activities for the public, including “Movie Machines”, an immersive show that looked at some of the most iconic moments of cinema with the car as the star and also featured some vehicles that have become legends of the silver screen.

The impact of four-wheeled vehicles on sports was reflected in “Motorsport”, a space where visitors were transported to the world of motor races. The exhibition showcased vehicles from disciplines such as F3, rallying, raids, or touring car and GT races, in an environment that imitated the pits of professional teams.

In addition, the traditional “boxes” located on Reina María Cristina and Rius i Taulet avenues gathered lots of activity and several thousand test drives were carried out. Brands have made available to visitors all kinds of vehicles, from urban SUVs to family cars, particularly electrified models, which those interested in acquiring a new car were able to drive in real conditions around the emblematic Montjuïc racetrack.

    Institutional support

Likewise, the president of the Show, Enrique Lacalle, stressed the importance of “the great institutional and corporate support that the show received“, mainly through the presence at the official opening of the President of Government of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, the Minister of Industry and Tourism of Spain, Jordi Hereu, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, among many other authorities.

In addition, industry associations such as Anfac, Fecavem, AEGFA and the STA chose the event to hold congresses and conferences, strangthening the role of Automobile Barcelona as an industrial platform and meeting point for automotive professionals.

Automobile Barcelona, the only show in Spain with the international recognition of the OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles), was also the setting for the congress “The moment of decarbonisation and electrification” jointly organised by Anfac and Fecavem, as well as different meetings and technical sessions consolidating itself as an industrial forum.
