The Show will also host activities for automotive professionals
Movie and racing cars, and the world of electrification at Automobile Barcelona 2025
Automobile Barcelona, the International Motor Show organised by Fira de Barcelona, will feature a programme of activities in its 43rd edition that will focus on the world of cinema, sports competitions and new mobility. The event, which will be held from 9 to 18 May at the Montjuïc venue, will also host activities for professionals in the sector such as the ANFAC-FECAVEM Congress focused on sustainable mobility.
The first of these activities will show the extent to which the automobile has become a central element of popular culture since its birth and its prominence on the big screen. The immersive show “Movie Machines”, which will run every day of the show, will review some of the most iconic moments of cinema with the car as the star and will also have onsite some of the vehicles that have become authentic myths of the cinematic universe.
The impact of four-wheeled vehicles also reaches the world of sport and in “Motorsport” visitors will be able to travel to the world of competitions. The exhibition will showcase vehicles from disciplines such as Formula E, rallies, raids, or GT races, in an environment recreating competition pits and where visitors will see how a team of mechanics acts.
The President of Automobille Barcelona, Enrique Lacalle, said that “these activities are a tribute to the car and enable us to see to what extent cars are part of our lives, our culture and our city. With them, Automobile Barcelona will once again be a celebration for motor lovers, visiting buyers and families“.
The programme of activities for the public will be completed by the “Energy Zone”, a space where visitors will be able to get to know the entire electromobility ecosystem and discover everything from energy suppliers and charging solutions to subscription modalities and installation possibilities. The aim is to show all the actors involved in the decarbonisation process and how it will transform our society.
Electric Test Drives
The promotion of electromobility will also have a practical face in the traditional boxes located on the Reina María Cristina and Rius i Taulet avenues. Visitors and fans will be able to get behind the wheel of the exhibiting brands’ ranges, including electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrids and discover their performance on the layout of the emblematic Montjuïc racetrack in a real traffic environment.
Professional Programme
As a key event in the automotive industry, Automobile Barcelona 2025 will also feature a programme of activities for professionals. Among these is the Anfac-Fecavem Congress which, under the theme “Accelerating towards sustainable mobility”, will be held on May 9 and will address some of the main challenges of the sector such as new urban mobility and sustainability, the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Spain, and the connected, autonomous and safe vehicle.
In the same vein, the STA (Society of Automotive Technicians) will organise three thematic conferences from 14 to 16 May that will deal with topics such as industrial vehicles, autonomous and connected vehicles, and industrial safety in infrastructures in the automotive sector. In addition, on Tuesday, May 13, the Spanish Association of Fleet Managers will hold the XVIII AEGFA Congress of Fleet and Mobility Managers 2025, the annual meeting of its members, within the framework of the Show.
